You would have assumed that picking out contact lenses for your upcoming costume would be simple. You need to choose a colour. The fact is that you can have overlooked a lot of details. Since no two eyes are alike, even a slight variation in the colour or form of your cosplay contacts can affect your flawless cosplay.
- Priorities first
Make sure you wear your contact lenses safely. You might visit an ophthalmologist if you are new to contact lenses. In certain countries, you still need a prescription. To ensure your contact lenses are secure, always get them from a reputable vendor. Naturally, bear in mind that maintaining contact lenses is necessary, and you should take care to keep them hygienic and safe.
- It’s not just about the hues.
Naturally, colour is the first element you consider while looking for lenses. But it isn’t exactly that simple. Your selection of contacts will be influenced by numerous additional factors. Assume that you are trying to find blue circle lenses. This is because different blues exist. Every lens has a multitude of colours and nuances. Although you would use them for quite distinct characters.
- The lens’s diameter
The average size of the human iris is between 10 and 13 mm. However, contact lenses need to be slightly larger to completely cover it. The most natural-looking lenses are often smaller, about 14 mm in diameter. The size of circle lenses that enlarge your eyes is around 14.5mm. You can experiment with mini sclera lenses, which are about 17mm, for a more dramatic impact. Lastly, the 22mm sclera lenses nearly cover the entire eye, but wearing them is riskier and more painful.
- What level of coverage is necessary
Your eyes should be partially covered by contacts, but to what extent? There are numerous options, ranging from incredibly realistic cosplay contacts that will barely conceal your eye colour to contacts that completely cover your eye. In addition, you can select lenses that would entirely alter the appearance of your eye or ones that will blend in with it. Though this isn’t always the case, coloured lenses aren’t always fully opaque. In actuality, slightly transparent lenses usually blend in better with your eyes. Naturally, you’ll need lenses that completely cover your eyes if you have really dark eyes and want to wear a bold colour like yellow.
- Having a rim or not
It is typical to find contact lenses having a rim; this serves to further define the iris. Although this rim seems black or extremely dark, contact lenses without any rim are also available. According to the style you select, your lenses may appear strange due to the lack of a rim. Fantasy lenses are less realistic because of their sharp edge surrounding the pupil and greater stunning appearance. Additionally, lenses with various pupil shapes, such as stars or hearts, are available.
You don’t have to wear uninteresting contact lenses. Your favourite lenses can be engraved with a wide variety of designs. Anything at all stars, dots, flowers, hello cats, etc. Strangely enough, there are odd shapes on some of my favourite contacts that you don’t notice until you’re very close. There are numerous options available.
